Mario Bala Andrade, 62, of Pawtucket, passed away on November 6, 2022 in Providence. Born in Brava, Cape Verde he was a son of the late Manuel Dias and Ana Candida (Bala) Andrade.
He is survived by two children, Joseph T. Andrade, Michael Mario Andrade; three grandchildren, Gisell, Maiya, and Bryson Andrade; seven siblings, Gabriel B. Andrade of Providence, RI, Jose B. Andrade of Cumberland, RI, Victor B. Andrade of Pawtucket, RI, Julio Andrade of Pawtucket, RI, Madalena Silva of Pawtucket, RI, Dulceneia Pires of Taunton, MA, Belinda A. Fernandes of Lincoln, RI; also leaves behind his companion of 20 years, Debbie Decourcey; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Emanuel Andrade.
Mario emigrated to the United States at the age of 7 and grew up in Central Falls and Pawtucket, RI. He was skilled carpenter, painter, plumber, and electrical worker. Although never formally trained, he could troubleshoot most any home improvement task. Known as "Moose" by his family and close friends, Mario was a hard worker and willing to help anyone. He loved his family, his Cape Verdean heritage, a nice cold beer, and a Patriots game. He will be remembered for his kind soul, humble nature, and infectious laugh.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation on Wednesday, November 9th from 4:00 – 7:00pm at Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave., Lincoln. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday morning at 10:00am in St. Teresa of the Child Jesus Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Please meet directly at the church. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket
